The Las Vegas Raiders face the Chicago Bears in Week 7, although there could be a change in who will call the plays. Based on the latest Raiders injury report, Jimmy Garoppolo playing in Week 7 vs. the Bears is unlikely.

Against the Bears, the Raiders will be turning to Brian Hoyer for starting quarterback duties, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported.

Garoppolo left the Raiders' game against the New England Patriots in the second quarter. The 31-year-old play-caller was rushed to the hospital to get checked.

According to Raiders coach Josh McDaniels, Garoppolo dodged a bullet with the injury, CBS Sports reported.

"The prognosis is a lot better than it otherwise might have been," the 47-year-old stated.

Injuries have hampered Garoppolo in the past seasons. He will miss his second start for the 2023-24 NFL season. He also missed the team's Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Aiden O'Connell filled in for the two-time Super Bowl champion and accounted for 24 of 39 passes for 238 yards and an interception.

"Yeah, just try to do my job every day," O'Connell said. "Try to get better. Definitely learn. It's a day-at-a-time process. Take it day by day, so I'm trying to do that," the rookie QB stated.

No Justin Fields for the Bears

The Bears are also dealing with player injuries. QB Justin Fields has also been listed as out, meaning Chicago will be turning to rookie play-caller Tyson Bagent, ESPN reported.

It was previously reported here on Sports World News that Fields will not require surgery for his injured thumb. However, there remains no clarity on when he could return, and head coach Matt Eberflus says it will all depend on when the 24-year-old can properly grip the ball again.
