MMA: Alex Pereira Cries 'Crap' on Israel Adesanya's Latest Claim About Career

UFC 287: Pereira v Adesanya 2

Who will be Israel Adesanya's next fight?

Fans might have to wait indefinitely for a return fight after the UFC star revealed he is taking some time off from mixed martial arts.

Fellow UFC fighter Alex Pereira does not think Stylbender was in the right frame of mind when he made that decision. He finds no good reason for the Kiwi-Nigerian to leave the game.

"It's hard to say anything about it because it's hard to understand Adesanya on that position," Pereira said during an interview with CBS Sports.

"He's saying that he's going to take all this time off, but it's not only about money. The guy already made his money. It's not about that. He likes to fight. So maybe he's just confused, so he has to hold on and see what's next."

He is also holding out hope that Adesanya will come back earlier than what he is planning on.

Pereira and Adesanya figured in two matches in the last year. Adesanya won their first bout in November 2022 via TKO, but the Brazilian got back at him in their rematch in April this year.

What did Stylebender say about his break?

Adesanya suffered an upset loss at the hands of Sean Strickland last month. A few weeks later, he decided to take a break from mixed martial arts.

"I'm trying to do as much as I can. But after this fight, and again, 14 months and four fights, it's not just the fights, it's the training and everything," he said.

"I had injuries going into the (Alex) Pereira fight, you've seen that. I don't make any excuses. Strickland got me on the night because he was the better fighter on the night. He did his work well. He had a good team behind him."
