Arizona Diamondback's Evan Longoria accepted their World Series defeat to Texas Rangers, but when it comes to Torey Lovullo missing the Manager of the Year (MOTY) award, that is something he is having a hard time dealing with.

MLB announced the finalists for various annual awards, but for the National League MOTY, Lovullo's name is nowhere to be seen.

The three finalists in the NL are Miami Marlins' Skip Schumaker, Milwaukee Brewers' Craig Counsell (Brewers), and Atlanta Braves' Brian Snitker.

Basketball writers headed the selection.

This did not sit well with the veteran third baseman, who took to Instagram to call out people who left out his manager on the shortlist.

"Whoever votes for Manager of the Year missed big on this one...and how? This is the NL MOTY, and it really shouldn't even be close. What a joke. @mlb @dbacks #baseballwritersassociationofamerica,' he wrote in his account.

Longo has a good argument about his manager. D-backs improved from last season, and on their road to the World Series, they were deemed the underdog.

Lovullo awarded something that D-backs will love

NL Manager of the Year can wait. Lovullo can vie for it again together with the Diamondbacks in the years to come, as the Associated Press reported the club decided to extend his stint.

The 58-year-old manager will be with the D-backs until 2026, according to the report.

The extension could be a reward for a great postseason run Lovullo spearheaded.

General Manager Mike Hazen recently told reporters that an extension is an option if they perform well this season.

"I said that if good things happen and we get to the playoffs and we get to where we need to go, that he and I will have another conversation," Hazen said in September.

"I said, 'I promise you that I will sit down with you and we'll talk through this again.'"
