Shohei Ohtani will be in the headlines in the next couple of weeks unless the top free agent quickly figures out where he will play next MLB season.

The 2021 AL MVP clarified his desire to be on a winning team. However, that does not mean Ohtani will settle for low pay, CBS Sports pointed out.

Several teams are expected to go after Ohtani. The Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, and the New York Mets are just some MLB teams likely to try their luck with the three-time All-Star.

Here are the top three MLB teams where Shohei Ohtani may end up.

New York Mets

The Mets make sense for Ohtani financially and in terms of winning. Team owner Steve Cohen has the money to spend and plans to invest that in a World Series title.

Cohen did so in 2023, assembling a cast of talented players at a cost. Will he add the Japanese baseball star, knowing he must shell out a huge sum again? If it means adding a talented pitcher like Ohtani, the possibility is looming large, John Harper of SNY suggested.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers are another big-spending team, although they keep their offseason plans under wraps. Rather than the money, it is about the long-term investment that the Dodgers are willing to agree to that may be an issue, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Los Angeles did not spend that much last offseason, yet another reason why critics feel they will go all out for Ohtani. Add to the fact that they need another slugger to add to the mix of Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.

San Francisco Giants

The San Francisco Giants are seen as the best match for Ohtani, per SI.com. They have won three World Series titles since 2010, easily satisfying the 2018 AL Rookie of the Year's preference to be on a winning team.

Like the Mets and the Dodgers, the Giants are unafraid to spend. Whatever Ohtani's financial concerns are, San Francisco has the resources to match it.
