This season has seen what teams thought to be invincibles go down against average opponents, Fans also witnessed how projected best players underperform in the most disappointing manner.

Through it all, only one team remained consistent and it is led by a player who should be this year's Most Valuable Player.

The San Francisco 49ers stand tall above everyone after 15 weeks with an 11-3 record. The team has the most touchdowns and the highest offensive rating at 118.

These stats were only made possible through the leadership of young quarterback Brock Purdy.

Bookmakers put Purdy's odds of winning the most prestigious individual award in American football at -190. The race is tight but there should have no question why Purdy should win it.

For context, here are other MVP candidates so far and their odds of winning it:

Dak Prescott (QB), Dallas Cowboys: +500

Lamar Jackson (QB), Baltimore Ravens: +500

Christian McCaffrey (RB), San Francisco 49ers: +1000

Josh Allen (QB), Buffalo Bills: +1100

Everyone on the list put up a great season but only Purdy's performance led to a type of success that puts his team closer to a playoff spot.

3 best arguments why Mr. Irrelevant should win the 2023 NFL MVP:

1. He is the best player in the best team

The past five seasons saw the MVP award get handed to someone from the team who ended up with the best regular season record.

In 2018, the award went to Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs which finished with the second-best record of 12-4. The Los Angeles Rams were the best team in that season with 13-3.

That was the last time the best team didn't get the MVP award and that should not change this season.

Purdy got the 49ers system like a puppet on his strings. The team have outscored all their opponents 529-239 in all the 16 games they have played. All the Ws are statements wins as they 12 of those 16 are decided by a margin of 13+ points.

Purdy, together with Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel, showed out in win against 2022 Super Bowl Finalists Philadelphia Eagles and that speaks volume of how they are here to go all the way.

2. He revolutionized himself

Purdy got the title of Mr. Irrelevant because he was picked 262nd overall in the 2022 draft.

Not much was expected from the guy but he overcame all those doubts and now, he is the QB1 of the San Francisco 49ers, taking over first and second-string QBs , Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo.

This part is, of course, not just a sentimental pick. Purdy has the stats to back up his claim for MVP.

He currently leads the league in passing touchdowns (29), passer rating (119), yards per attempt (9.9). His 3795 passing yards and 69.8 completion percentage (minimum 150 pass attempts) are also ranked second overall.

3. MVP is a quarterback award now

This is not an endorsement of the MVP award as an exclusive QB award. The past results only show how the QB position got revolutionized and became the more important position for any NFL clubs.

Purdy himself detaches himself from the individual title and wants to hand it to running back teammate McCaffrey. However, that just seems impossible right now.

Mr. Irrelevant's performance this season cannot be overlooked as the 49ers struggle more when he is not around.
