Lolo Jones Olympic Hopes: Bobsled Hopeful Left Off U.S. Teams in Lake Placid World Cup Race [VIDEO]

Lolo Jones could be considering changing her name to "Yo-Yo" Jones.

OlympicTalk.NBCsports.com reported Thursday that the U.S. Bobsled Team announced its pairing for the Lake Placid World Cup event this weekend, and Jones was conspicuously absent from the list of participants.

Jones served as the push athlete with driver Jamie Greubel last weekend during a World Cup race in Park City, Utah, and finished tied for second with the team of drive Jazmine Fenlator and push athlete Lauryn Williams. The U.S. team of drive Elana Meyers and push athlete Aja Evans finished first in two races last weekend.

The pairings for the race in Lake Placid feature Meyers and Williams on one team, Greubel and Evans on the second team and Fenlator and Emily Azevedo on the third team.

OlympicTalk.NBCSports.com added that the U.S., which is expected to qualify three teams for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, in February, really has just one push athlete spot left after Evans and Eberling. Jones, Williams and Azevedo appear to be battling for the final spot.

The three drivers - Meyers, Greubel and Fenlator - seem set.

Jones was the gold medal favorite in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and led the race until she clipped the next-to-last hurdle and finished in seventh place. She finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in the 2012 London Olympics.

Williams, who is in her rookie season as a push athlete, also is a track athlete. She is a three-time Olympian and the 2004 Olympic silver medalist in the 100 meters.

OlympicTalk.NBCSports.com reported that the inclusion or absence of any push athlete does not have a direct bearing on her chances of making the U.S. Olympic Team. U.S. Bobsled team officials are trying to determine the best fits for the drivers before they make the decision on push athletes in mid-January.
