L'Jarius Sneed did not get what he wanted from the Kansas City Chiefs after the franchise tag, but he is now moving on to the Tennessee Titans with pay similar to what he asked from the negotiations.

The Titans let go of their seventh-round pick (No. 252) in this year's draft, a 2025 third-round pick, and a 2024 seventh-round pick (No. 221) to sign Sneed.

Not only that, they almost matched his asking price as the franchise tried to get back to winning seasons.

Sneed is a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs.

He joined the team in 2020 as the 138th overall pick and has played 57 games since then.

Among his best moments with the team was preventing what would have been a winning reception by Zay Flowers of the Baltimore Ravens during the 2023 AFC Championship.

He punched out the reception to prevent a potential touchdown.

L'Jarius Sneed contract comes with immense pressure

The deal the Titans made with Sneed allows the 27-year-old quarterback to join the Top six highest-paid players in his position.

Tennessee signed him to a four-year, $76.4 million deal with $55 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus.

The Green Bay Packers' Jaire Alexander earned the most among all CBs with $21 million this season, followed by Cleveland Browns' Denzel Ward at $20.1 million.

With his new contract, Sneed is also in the Top 4 of highest CB guarantees after he was assured of earning $55 million.

Ward is guaranteed to earn $71.25 million, Baltimore Ravens' Marlon Humphrey with $67.3 million, and New Orleans Saints' Marshon Lattimore at $58 million.

Compared to these CBs, Sneed does not have individual wares yet, but Titans general manager Ran Carthon believes they upgraded the position with him.

In addition to Sneed, they also signed Chidobe Awuzie, who will receive $36 million, with $23 million guaranteed for three years.

"A lot of the greats in the game, we know Coach Prime (Deion Sanders) was arguably the best cover corner ever, but people always criticized him for his, quote unquote, lack of tackling," Carthon said about their new signings.

"We have two corners now (Sneed and Chidobe Awuzie) who are physical and will put their face on people and set the edge."

Sneed, for his part, vowed to earn the dollars his new team will spend on him.

"Confidence, resiliency, relentlessness, I'm a helluva player, I love my game, I'm not afraid to lose, but I'm gonna win every rep," he said when asked what he could bring to the franchise.

The Titans have been making big signings this offseason. However, they also lost some key players in free agency, most notably former NFL Offensive Player of the Year Derrick Henry, who joined the Ravens.

They hope to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

They finished with a 6-11 record last season, just good enough for a fourth-place spot in the South conference.
