The Wildcats defeated the Trojans 70-49.

USC Trojans guard Bronny James is set to make a significant decision in his collegiate basketball career.

The 18-year-old is reportedly departing the university after completing one season with the team, as reported by journalist Dick Weiss.

The firstborn son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is also anticipated to enter the NCAA transfer portal in search of a new college basketball team for next season.

James appeared in 25 games, starting in six in his freshman year in Los Angeles. He missed the first eight games of the season after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest in early July 2023 during the Trojans' off-season workouts.

The 6-foot-4 combo guard posted averages of 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 0.8 steals while playing 19.4 minutes per game.

Bronny James confirms future of his career

With his decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal, James has essentially confirmed that he will not declare for the 2024 NBA Draft and will return to college basketball for his sophomore year.

There's limited information about which other schools he's considering now.

The departure of USC head coach Andy Enfield, who was recently named the new head coach at Southern Methodist University following 11 seasons with the Trojans, might be a factor in his decision to leave.

Additionally, the Trojans' guard-heavy lineup, which led to a decrease in his minutes, could also be an influence.
