The Oakland Athletics are close to finalizing a deal to temporarily relocate and play in another significant city in California very soon.

The A's are set to play in Sacramento from the 2025 MLB season until the conclusion of the 2027 MLB season, preceding their controversial relocation to Las Vegas the following year.

An official announcement is anticipated to be made as early as Thursday, April 4, or Friday, April 5, as reported by local Sacramento media personality David Weiglein, also known as Carmichael Dave.

The team's lease with the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum expires after the 2024 season, prompting them to seek a temporary home until their new ballpark in Las Vegas is constructed.

Oakland Athletics to play in Giants' Triple-A affiliate ballpark

The A's will relocate their home games to Sutter Health Park in California's capital city, approximately 85 miles northeast of their current venue, Oakland Coliseum.

Currently serving as the home of the Triple-A Sacramento Rivercats, an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, the stadium has a capacity of 14,014.

The team has averaged 6,438 fans in their six home games to kick off the 2024 MLB season. Attendance has primarily been an issue attributable to the Oakland Coliseum's deteriorating condition and the team's poor on-field performance.
