Is Lebron James' time with the Los Angeles Lakers running out?

King James will enter the last year of his latest contract with the Lakers in the 2024-2025 season with an opt-out deal.

He has been with the Lakers since 2018. He will be 40 years old by next year.

NBA insider Brian Windhorst suggested that Lebron will opt out next season to get himself a much better deal.

This does not necessarily mean he will leave Hollywood.

"I think LeBron's gonna opt out no matter what. And the reason I think he's gonna opt out no matter what is even if he just signs back for one year, the only functional way for LeBron to get a no-trade clause is to sign a new contract," Windhorst said in the show "The Hoop Collective."

Windhorst explained that this move, if ever, will be due to James' desire to get a no-trade clause.

King James will tie Vince Carter for the most number of seasons played in the NBA next year at 22.

He will be 40 years old, but unlike Carter, he still plays at a high level. He could very much play until his early 40s, and that is one of his goals.

Playing with Bronny James

LeBron has been vocal about staying in the league until his firstborn joins the NBA.

Bronny recently entered the transfer portal after spending one season with the USC Trojans.

Many believe that he will soon enter his name for the NBA draft.

There hasn't been a father-son duo who played in the NBA in the same season.

If the James duo achieves it, it is only a testament to Lebron's longevity and greatness.
