The Milwaukee Bucks released significant injury news regarding their best player, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The 29-year-old will miss the team's remaining three games in the 2023-24 regular season following a left calf injury.
The team has also announced that the 2021 NBA Finals MVP will receive daily treatment and evaluation. How he responds to daily therapy and assessment will determine his return to play.
Antetokounmpo sustained a scary injury against the Celtics last Tuesday, April 9, when he stumbled to the floor without any contact and grabbed his left leg late in the third quarter.
However, an MRI revealed that Antetokounmpo's left Achilles tendon is fully intact, according to league insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Non-contact injuries often carry serious implications and can be more alarming than contact injuries, as they have the potential to be career-altering, such as ACL or Achilles tendon tears.
Bucks stun top-seeded Celtics
Despite missing their best player for the remainder of the game, the Bucks secured a 104-91 win at home against the top-seeded Celtics at the Fiserv Forum.
The Celtics, who have clinched the league's best record this season, did not attempt any free throws in the game.
For their remaining regular-season matchups, the Bucks are scheduled to play the Orlando Magic twice, with a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder sandwiched in between.
