Texas Football Coaching Rumors: Chip Kelly Candidate To Replace Mack Brown ? [VIDEO]

Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly calls reports linking him to the Texas football coaching job "just speculation."

According to ESPN, Texas athletic director Steve Patterson has an "A-list" of candidates to replace outgoing Mack Brown that includes the former Oregon coach.

"I understand you have to ask the question," Kelly told ESPN on Monday, "But I'm not involved in any jobs. I'm the coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. I'm going to prepare for the Bears and prepare for the Cowboys after that. Hopefully we have an opportunity to go to the playoffs and I'm going to be here for a while."

ESPN adds Patterson's wish list also includes Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and Green Bay's Mike McCarthy. San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh and Pittsburgh's Mike Tomlin have also previously been mentioned as potential candidates.

Harbaugh declined comment last week when approached by reporters, adding he doesn't "ever talk about any jobs other than the one I have."

ESPN reports Kelly was also linked to the USC coaching opening earlier this year. "I really don't know," he told the website. "I haven't talked to anybody. It's just speculation. I haven't spoken to anybody."

While at Oregon, Kelly led the Ducks to a 46-7 record over four seasons. This year, the Eagles are 8-6 and in first place in the NFC East
