The Los Angeles Sparks, as expected, selected Cameron Brink as their No. 2 pick in the WNBA 2024 draft.

The selection did not surprise anyone, as she is the second-best talent in the pool and suits the Sparks' needs.

What surprised many, though, was the presence of Stephen Curry's mom, Sonya, at her table during the draft program.

Sonya was seated together with Cameron's mom and celebrated with them when Commissioner Cathy Engelbert called her name.

To those who do not know, Sonya is Cameron's godmother. She is Stephen Curry's godsister.

This is why she even got a shoutout from the Golden State Warriors star when she announced her plan to go professional.

"The best is yet to come. I can't wait to see where your career takes you. WNBA listen. League her!" Curry said last month.

Brink played out her senior year with Stanford but only managed a Sweet 16 finish when they lost to NC State.

Brink will join a team that finished ninth in the table and missed last year's playoffs.

Curry's warning to the WNBA about Brink

Stephen Curry himself was tuned in to the WNBA draft broadcast.

In his IG story, he enthusiastically cheered on Brink, affirming his statement that she could bring versatility to the Sparks.

He also expressed joy when his mother was flashed on the screen.

"Look at 'em. Look at 'em. Aww!"

Another thing that stood out from Curry's IG story was his message about Brink to the league.

Curry said in the video, "Cam Brink, y'all watch out. She is on the rise."
