New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson was delivering one of the standout performances of his career against the Los Angeles Lakers during their play-in tournament game on Tuesday, April 16.

However, with just three minutes remaining, Williamson exited the game due to an apparent injury and did not return, ultimately resulting in the Pelicans' 110-106 loss on their home court.

Confusion arose when Williamson was seen leaving the Smoothie King Center without displaying any visible signs of discomfort.

"Zion Williamson just left the building wasn't walking with a limp or anything. Didn't have a visible wrap on his leg either," NBA writer Will Guillory of The Athletic posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

Williamson played what could be considered the best game of his career, given the circumstances. He scored 40 points on 17-of-27 shooting from the field.

The 23-year-old also contributed 11 rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block.

The two-time NBA All-Star sustained the injury after scoring his 39th and 40th points, visibly frustrated as he headed back to the locker room.
