The Los Angeles Clippers must address an extra financial burden before the 2024 NBA Playoffs begin.
The league has fined the team $25,000 for breaching injury reporting rules during the last game of the regular season.
The Clippers inaccurately reported the availability status of star Paul George, point guard Russell Westbrook, and wing Norman Powell before their home game against the Houston Rockets on April 14 at the Crypto.com Arena, according to an official statement by the NBA.
The Rockets won in that game with a final score of 116-105.
Neither George, Westbrook, nor Powell saw action in the game, and the Clippers' injury report before the matchup did not list them as being sidelined due to injury or rest.
They were only marked as "Did not play - coach's decision" on the box score.
Kawhi Leonard's status for the 2024 NBA Playoffs
Another issue concerning the Clippers' injury report is the inclusion of their star player, Kawhi Leonard.
The two-time NBA Finals MVP is labeled as questionable for their upcoming postseason opener at home against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, April 21.
The 32-year-old has been grappling with inflammation in his surgically repaired right knee since late March. He has been participating in practice on a limited basis recently without contact.
