Red Bull Racing could encounter a massive challenge ahead, following its dominance in the past two seasons and its continued success in the current one.

Adrian Newey, the team's Chief Technical Officer and widely regarded as one of the greatest engineers in Formula 1 history, has expressed his desire to leave the team.

While Newey has not officially submitted a resignation letter to the team, he has informally communicated with some senior figures at Red Bull about his decision.

The 65-year-old Englishman has been with Red Bull since their second season in F1 in 2006, and he has played a significant role in developing all seven of their championship-winning cars.

It is understood that internal instability within Red Bull, characterized by power struggles among top executives, has led to Newey's decision to leave.

Newey's contract with Red Bull is set to run until the end of 2025. However, reports indicate that an exit clause allows him to depart at the end of 2024.

Three teams, Scuderia Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Mercedes, are said to be frontrunners in signing Newey.

Newey is regarded as one of the most sought-after figures in the grid, with some attributing him more significance as a building block for success than even elite drivers like Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton.

The legendary designer would need to observe a year-long gardening leave before joining another team, and he would be out of F1 until before 2027 at most.
