Philadelphia 76ers coach Nick Nurse has realized that his strategies may not be very significant, especially after several close games against the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs.
The 56-year-old addressed the media on Thursday, May 2, ahead of their crucial Game 6 against the Knicks at the Wells Fargo Center.
When questioned about potential strategies for the game, Nurse jokingly responded, "I have decided nothing matters," eliciting laughter from the reporters in the press conference room.
"They kill us on the glass, it goes down to the buzzer. We kill them on the glass, it goes down to the buzzer. Joel scores 50, it goes down to the buzzer. Brunson scores 47, it goes down to the buzzer," Nurse added.
The Sixers face elimination following a 3-2 series deficit ahead of Game 6.
Sixers-Knicks series have been close
The first five games of the Knicks-Sixers series have been highly competitive.
Four of them were decided by seven points or less, with two games ending with margins of fewer than five points and another one going into overtime.
Throughout the series, key players from both teams have delivered standout performances.
Sixers star Joel Embiid had a remarkable 50-point game in Game 3, and Tyrese Maxey scored 46 points in Game 5.
On the other hand, Knicks star Jalen Brunson recorded an impressive 47-point performance in Game 4.
