Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell is being sought by several teams around the league who are looking to add firepower.
The 27-year-old has two years remaining on his contract, but only the 2024-25 season is guaranteed, with the 2025-26 season being a player option.
With Mitchell holding off on signing an extension with the Cavaliers, multiple teams have emerged with offers ready for the five-time NBA All-Star, according to ESPN league insider Brian Windhorst.
"I'm trying to walk the line because I don't want anybody to freak out in my hometown of Cleveland, but there are a number of teams that have their offers ready. The Lakers, they're ready. Of course," Windhorst said on the ESPN show "Get Up" on Wednesday, May 15.
Co-host Mike Greenberg posed a follow-up question, inquiring whether the New York Knicks were among the teams prepared to make an offer, to which Windhorst stated that the Knicks are focused on their Eastern Conference playoff campaign but hinted to an intriguing news.
"Certainly across the river there in Brooklyn," the 46-year-old journalist added.
ESPN analyst says Donovan Mitchell played the last game for the Cavaliers
ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins believes Mitchell already played his final game for the Cavaliers this season.
The former NBA big man said that the team's other key players, such as Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, still require time to develop, whereas Mitchell is in "win now" mode.
"100 percent Donovan Mitchell has played his last game for the Cleveland Cavaliers," Perkins stated.
