WWE Royal Rumble 2014 Rumors [VIDEO]: Shield Break Up Coming, Roman Reigns To Win Rumble Match?

On Jan. 26, the WWE presents its first pay-per-view of the New Year as the Royal Rumble emanates live from the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, and the WWE has already started to plan out the event and it seems as though Shield member Roman Reigns will be featured prominently on the card.

The WWE's website posted about the Rumble match itself with a preview on the site that confirmed that the winner will go on to face WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton--if he's still the title holder--at WrestleMania XXX at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on April 6 in New Orleans.

In the past, the WWE had two titles that the winner could go for, but now with the belts being unified at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs, the preview clarified that the winner is guaranteed a title shot against the holder of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, the WWE has big plans for Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble and one backstage source with knowledge of the plans described them as "even bigger than anyone would have thought."

The WWE has been intent on pushing Reigns as the company continues to hint at the eventual breakup of The Shield on television. Signs of his push were evidenced during the traditional five-on-five elimination tag team match at the Survivor Series where Reigns eliminated four out of the five members of the opposing team before standing tall as the sole survivor.

It remains to be seen what exactly the company's plans are for Reigns, but speculation could lead to a possible Rumble match win for the Shield member, though with his push in the early stages that could seem highly unlikely.

It is likely that Reigns will have a dominant performance at the event by eliminating superstar after superstar like what Diesel did in 1994 when he stood tall in the ring at the start of his push, or like Kane did in 2001 when he eliminated a record 11 WWE Superstars from the match.

Reports have surfaced that the WWE has already started working on names for surprise entrants to come out during the Royal Rumble match and that the two most speculated names include Hulk Hogan--who may be out now that he reportedly might not be able to wrestle at WrestleMania due to an inability to pass medical tests--and Chris Jericho.

The Royal Rumble takes place Sunday Jan. 26 live from the Consol Energy center in Pittsburgh, and it will be interesting to see what kind of role Reigns plays in the event and who wins the title shot for WrestleMania XXX.
