Tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET, the San Jose Sharks (21-7-6, 42 points) and Los Angeles Kings (23-8-4, 50 points) faceoff live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles in the third of five meetings against each other this season. The game can be live streamed here. San Jose fans can hear all of the action on KFOX 102.1 while Los Angeles fans can do the same on KTLK 1150.
San Jose enters play coming off of a victory and is hoping to turn around its December while Los Angeles kept pace with the Pacific Division-leading Anaheim Ducks by winning their last game. The two previous games between these two teams took more than three periods to settle as the Kings beat the Sharks 4-3 in overtime on Oct. 30 in Los Angeles while the Sharks bested the Kings in a shootout 3-2 Nov. 27 in San Jose.
Kings goaltender Martin Jones has won all six of his starts since making his NHL debut and earned shutouts in three of them.
"The last three or four years, being in the minors, you learn how to be a pro, and how to approach on and off the ice stuff, and the details that make you a good pro," Jones told NHL.com. "I've put in the work in a last little bit, and it's nice to see some results here."
Jones is 6-0-0 with a 0.82 GAA and a .972 save percentage and is expected to start Thursday. The Sharks will likely go with Antti Niemi, who is 18-6-6 with a 2.25 GAA and a .915 save percentage.
The Sharks are coming off of a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues and will hope that it's the start of a turnaround to a dreadful month for them.
Joe Thornton has led San Jose with 36 points off of five goals and 31 assists while Patrick Marleau is 3-5-8 in his past six games for a total of 15 markers along with 19 helpers for 34 points and Joe Pavelski has found the twine 13 times while adding 18 assists for 31 points.
Anze Kopitar has paced Los Angeles with 29 points off of 11 goals and 18 assists while Mike Richards has six tallies and 21 helpers for 27 points and Justin Williams has lit the lamp 11 times while adding 11 assists for 22 points.
The Sharks will look to string some wins together while the Kings try and hunt down the Ducks in the Pacific Division when the puck drops tonight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
