Nets Center Lopez Injured: Will Miss Rest Of Brooklyn Nets Season With Broken Foot [VIDEO]

Brooklyn Nets All-Star center Brooks Lopez is expected to miss the rest of the season after breaking his already surgically repaired right foot, according to ESPN.

The website reports the 7-foot center broke the fifth metatarsal of his right foot during the third quarter of the team's 121-120 Friday night overtime loss to Philadelphia. Lopez previously broke the same foot in 2011 and later had a screw inserted into it, ESPN reports.

In Friday's game, Lopez continued playing after suffering the injury, finishing with 22 points and seven rebounds. Team officials discovered the severity of the injury after he underwent X-rays later in the night.

It's been a season of disappointment for the Nets, who after adding veterans Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce during the offseason have been ravaged by injuries in getting off to a 9-17 start.

Along with star guard Deron Williams, Pierce, Andrei Kirilenko and Jason Terry have all missed significant time with injuries.

Lopez was averaging 21 points and six rebounds for Brooklyn. With him now sidelined, rookie coach Jason Kidd is expected to turn to a rotation that features more minutes for Garnett and forwards Andray Blatche and Reggie Evans.
