The hope is that it is just a sick joke.
Outkickthecoverage.com received a tweet from Jake Johnson, a Twitter follower, who submitted a photo to the website of a sleeping baby in an Alabama Crimson Tide onesie outfit holding what appears to be an actual handgun.
Outkickthecoverage.com reported that the photo came from a Crimson Tide fan's Facebook account:
@ClayTravisBGID someone actually posted it on facebook. I'm a Bama fan, but I could not keep this to myself," Johnson told the website reporter.
In fact, outkickthecoverage.com included a later photo of the baby surrounded by weapons, including a pink handgun.
The photos, with good reason, left some other Twitter users speechless.

CollegeSpun.com picked up on the photos, but also had few words to add in response.
"While I hope this is a joke, it'd still be an absolutely terrible joke. A photo of a baby wearing Alabama Crimson Tide gear, holding a handgun has been circulating the Twittersphere today. There's also a second photo, which shows a handful of rifles placed around the baby as well. I'm just baffled."
As of the early morning of Christmas Eve, no reports had surfaced as to whether the photo was a hoax - a photoshopped image - or had some other plausible explanation.
