Toronto Raptors To Host 'Drake Night' For Canadian-Born Hip Hop Star [VIDEO]

The Toronto Raptors are planning a "Drake Night" at Air Canada Centre in January aimed at saluting the rap star and newly named team global ambassador.

Just before the start of the season, the organization announced it had entered into a partnership with the hip hop star where he will also serve as host of several events in connection with the team hosting All-Star Weekend 2016.

USA TODAY Sports reports the rap star is also being entrusted with aiding the team in its plans to launch its much anticipated 20th anniversary image redesign, slated to be unveiled before the start of next season. Aside from the Raptors nickname, the newspaper adds everything will be on the table and open to change.

Over the years, the Canadian-born star has been spotted at numerous Raptors games and team officials are hoping he might be able to provide the organization with a jolt of energy and excitement similar to what Jay Z did by virtue of his one-time association with his hometown Brooklyn Nets.

Another part of the plan also calls for the hip-hop star to launch a new clothing to coincide with the team's anniversary season.
