WWE Royal Rumble 2014 Return Rumors [VIDEO]: Jake "The Snake" Roberts To Be A Surprise Entrant?

Wrestling legend Jake "The Snake" Roberts set a 2014 Royal Rumble return as a surprise entrant for his goal last year when he began working with Diamond Dallas Page on staying in shape through DDP Yoga, but it appears even though the WWE is looking for surprise entrants for this year's 30-man over-the-top-rope Royal Rumble match, Roberts seemed to regret having set a goal that wasn't entirely under his control.

Roberts said in a statement that while the Royal Rumble was a goal of his, he didn't believe he'd make a return there as a surprise entrant as it wasn't his decision and he regretted setting a goal that he couldn't control.

"Daily questions on Rumble. Here is my official statement. I have had no contact from WWE," Roberts said in the statement, according to Wrestlingheadlines.com. "I publicized returning at the Royal Rumble as my goal about a year ago. Looking back, setting goals that are entirely in someone else's hands was not the best idea."

Roberts also didn't rule out a possible return to the squared circle for the Royal Rumble.

"My advice, and my practice now is to set goals that you can control. Do your best to control your destiny," he said via Wrestlingheadlines.com. "If the Rumble happens, I will do my best to put on a memorable performance. If they want to keep me around, I know I can do some cool stuff. It if doesn't, I still have plenty to look forward to."

Roberts said that was the last he'd speak on the WWE and the Royal Rumble event on Jan. 26 at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

"That's all on the Rumble and WWE for a while. Please enjoy the rest of these holidays with your loved ones. Thanks again for all the support. Remember, the Snake ALWAYS bites back," he said.

Roberts may not fit into the WWE's plans for Royal Rumble week, however even if he doesn't he'll still be busy as he is booked for Jersey Championship Wrestling the Friday and Saturday before the Rumble.

There have been many rumored returnees for the Royal Rumble match, including Chris Jericho--who will be in the area the day before the event for an appearance--and Hulk Hogan, who is rumored to return to the WWE for WrestleMania XXX despite reports he may not be able to wrestle.

It remains to be seen who will appear at the event but the winner of the Royal Rumble match is guaranteed to go on to WrestleMania XXX on April 6 and take on the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
