Chad Johnson Controversy: 'Ochocinco' Wears T-Shirt With F-Bomb Into Toys R' Us [VIDEO]

Even in retirement, former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson remains the master of inappropriate gestures.

TMZ Sports reported Thursday that Johnson went to Toys R' Us on Christmas Eve to do some last-minute shopping. But his attire was less than kid-friendly.

Johnson entered the store wearing a "Carpe That F---ing Diem" T-shirt in the store in Pembroke Pines, Fla.

The phrase, "Carpe diem," made famous in the 1989 Robin Williams' movie, "Dead Poets Society," is Latin for "Seize the day."

When TMZ Sports later contacted Johnson for a comment, he admitted, "I should've went in with no shirt on."

Ironically, if it was inevitable that Johnson, the former Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots wideout,  was going to enter a toy store with an obscenity on his shirt, Christmas Eve may have been the best day to do it because the timing would've been as such that patrons likely would've been parents doing last-minute shopping without their kids.

Of course, Johnson might've just been venting over the fact that his ex-wife, Evelyn Lozada was about to get engaged to Los Angeles Dodgers outfield Carl Crawford. Crawford asked Lozada to marry him on Christmas Day, according to several media outlets, but she announced last month that she was pregnant and Crawford was the father.

Johnson and Lozada were married for two months in 2012. In August of 2012, Johnson was arrested on a domestic violence charge when he was accused of head-butting Lozada. She was treated at a hospital for a cut on the forehead, NESN.com reported.

The incident was the beginning of the end of any hopes Johnson had of extending his NFL career. He had signed a free-agent contract with the Miami Dolphins that summer after being released by the Patriots.

The Dolphins released Johnson shortly after the incident. A reality show planned to air on VH1 on the couple's marriage also was canceled.
