Jay Cutler To Leave Bears? [VIDEO] QB Wants To Stay But 'Knows It Might Not Happen'

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler's future in Chicago is bleak following the team's 33-28 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday that saw the team miss out on the playoffs and a chance to clinch the NFC North. Cutler said he would like to stay with the organization but knows that it may not be possible and his days in the Windy City could be coming to a close.

"We'll find equal ground. We'll get it worked out," he said on The Jay Cutler Show on WMVP-AM, according to the Chicago Tribune. "I don't know when it's going to happen. And eventually it might not happen. But we're going to take a crack at it, I'm sure."

NFL.com reports that Cutler and his agent haven't begun talks with the Bears yet, and a return for the signal caller may be questionable since the Bears may leverage how well Josh McCown played in Cutler's absence to injury against him.

Bears general manager Phil Emery told NFL.com that he'd like to reach a long-term extension with the quarterback but anything from a franchise tag to walking away from Cutler is on the table for the Bears.

Cutler, who may command too much money for the Bears to want to negotiate a new deal with him, has gotten accustomed to throwing to top weapons on the Bears such as Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.

"I think if you polled quarterbacks around the league, everyone's going to want to come here," Cutler said per NFL.com. "Why wouldn't you want to play here? We've got a lot of guys who can make some plays. It would be fun to stay here. Obviously I want to stay here."

Cutler went 224-for-355 (63.1%) for 2,621 yards with 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2013. Marshall had 12 touchdowns while garnering 100 receptions for 1,295 yards while Jeffery had 89 catches for 1,421 yards while reaching the end zone seven times.

When Cutler went down mid-season with a high-ankle sprain, McCown took the reins to the offense and performed very well, creating a bit of a quarterback controversy when Cutler returned, however all controversy was somewhat avoided when the Bears backed Cutler as their starter.

McCown, 34, surprised many by going 149-for-224 (66.5%) for 1,829 yards with 13 touchdowns and just one interception.

McCown played so well in fact, that it could conceivably force Cutler out of town.
