ESPN is reporting Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater plans to forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft.
Rated the top-rated quarterback prospect by ESPN draft guru Todd McShay, Bridgewater passed for 3,970 yards and 31 touchdowns this season. Overall, he completed 71 percent of his passes against just four interceptions.
In his last collegiate game, Bridgewater threw for a career-high 447 yards in leading the Cardinals (12-1) to a 36-9 trouncing of Miami in the Russell Athletic Bowl. Bridgewater has already graduated from Louisville with a degree in sports administration, but still had a year of eligibility remaining.
"I reached my ultimate goal," he recently told ESPN, adding his now turning pro "would change my mom's life financially."
Bridgewater also later told the network "I can make an impact on my environment, where I grew up in Miami, showing there's no restrictions what you can reach. That someone from the same neighborhood can make it out."
For his career, Bridgewater threw for 9,370 yards and 69 touchdowns while completing 68 percent of his passes, including touchdown passes in 23 of his last 24 games.
