Johnny Manziel may put his NFL career on hold and return to the Texas A&M next season. The sophomore quarterback said on Monday that he won't make a decision on whether to pursue an NFL career or stay at Texas A&M next year until he talks to his family.
ESPN reports that Manziel said on Monday he is undecided on whether to join the NFL Draft or return under center for the Aggies. The signal caller attended Monday night's VIZIO BCS National Championship game that saw Florida State top Auburn 34-31 and said he wanted to meet with his family before a decision is reached.
"I want to make the right decision that's best for me and my family," Manziel said, according to ESPN.
Manziel has two years of eligibility left at Texas A&M, but ESPN reports that most draft analysts consider the 2012 Heisman winner as a lock to be a first-round draft pick if he elected to go to the NFL Draft.
With the emergence of Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater and Central Florida's Blake Bortles, Manziel probably wouldn't be the first quarterback to be selected should he decide to turn professional, but he would likely be a very high pick in the draft.
Manziel went 300-for-429 (69.9%) for 4,114 yards with 37 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. A year ago when he won the Heisman, Manziel went 299-for-434 (68.0%) for 3,706 yards with 26 scores and nine picks.
It remains to be seen where Manziel will go, but it won't be known until he talks to his family.
Manziel is 595-for-863 (68.9 percent) for 7,820 yards with 63 touchdowns and 22 interceptions through his first two seasons with Texas A&M and has rushed 345 times for 2,169 yards while reaching the end zone 30 times.
