Aaron Hernandez Murder Case: Carlos Ortiz Attorney Says Client 'In Wrong Place At Wrong Time' In Odin Lloyd Killing [VIDEO]

An attorney for Carlos Ortiz is insisting his client did not aid Aaron Hernandez in committing the murder he is now accused of and was simply "in the wrong place at the wrong time" in being with him on the night Odin Lloyd was killed.

According to Boston.com, John J. Connors maintains his client was simply hanging out the former New England Patriots tight end on the night of June 17, and had no role in the murder of Odin Lloyd.

"He got a ride to North Attleborough to go out with a person who was kind of the hometown hero," Connors told the website following a hearing in Bristol Superior Court on Thursday. "And the night didn't turn out the way it should have. He happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and whatever went on, he had no part in it, from our point of view."

Ortiz, 27, and another man, Ernest Wallace, are charged as accessories after the fact in the murder of Lloyd, whose bullet-riddled body was found near Hernandez's sprawling North Attleboro home.

Hernandez, 24, has pleaded not guilty to murder and weapons charges and remains jailed without bail and relegated to solitary confinement.

According to Boston.com, police theorize Ortiz, Hernandez, and Wallace picked up Lloyd at his Dorchester home early that night and drove him to an industrial park, where he was shot execution style.

Ortiz is being held on $500,000 bail and during this week's hearing Connors requested a bill of particulars, or a legal document laying out all the specifics of what his client is accused of having done.

Judge E. Susan Garsh scheduled a telephone conference call between prosecutors and Connors on the matter for Feb. 27.
