Tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET, the Pittsburgh Penguins (32-12-1, 65 points) and Edmonton Oilers (14-27-5, 33 points) skate against each other for the second and final time this season live from Rexall Place in Edmonton. Pittsburgh has won 12 of its past 14 games heading into tonight while Edmonton is heading in the opposite direction and has lost 11 of its last 14. The first time these two teams played, the Penguins defeated the Oilers 3-2 in Pittsburgh on Oct. 15.
The Penguins squandered a 2-0 lead in their game against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday before allowing four unanswered goals and storming back to tie the game and eventually win 5-4 in a shootout.
"They did it to us, so it was nice we did it back," goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury said via NHL.com. "When your team does something like that, you just want to help out, and I got my chance in the shootout."
Fleury may get the night off tonight, meaning Jeff Zatkoff may start. Zatkoff is 7-2-0 with a 2.52 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Edmonton is likely to start Devan Dubnyk, who is 10-16-2 with a 3.31 GAA and a .895 save percentage.
The Oilers are coming off of a 5-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday where coach Dallas Eakins shifted Sam Gagner from center to wing.
"I feel jumpstarted. I feel like I'm playing well," Gagner told NHL.com "I just want to keep going. I think when you're playing with Nuge and Hallsy, they're great players and I'm just excited to get a chance to play with them so I could have a good night tomorrow."
Taylor Hall has paced Edmonton with 41 points off of 16 goals and 25 assists while Jordan Eberle has 14 tallies and 21 helpers for 35 points and David Perron has found the twine 17 times and added 17 assists for 34 points.
The Penguins have been led by Sidney Crosby, who has an 11-game point streak along with a league-high 65 points off of 24 goals and 41 assists while Chris Kunitz has 23 markers and 25 helpers for 48 points and Evgeni Malkin has lit the lamp 12 times and added 33 assists for 45 points.
The Penguins look to continue their hot streak in their first visit to Edmonton since 2011 while the Oilers hope to start turning things around when the lights come up at Rexall Place tonight in Edmonton.
