Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman admitted there will be no love lost when his team hosts the San Francisco 49ers Sunday in the NFC Championship with a chance to go to Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in two weeks on the line.
"There's no love lost and there's no love found," Sherman said Wednesday, according to ESPN. "I don't know if there's going to be handshakes after this one. It's going to be intense and it's going to be physical."
The 12th man will be rocking when the Seahawks host their divisional rivals at CenturyLink field. Sherman said he didn't hate the 49ers but the teams have a strong dislike for one another.
"I don't hate anyone," Sherman said per ESPN. "But passion, definitely. There'll be dislike, strong dislike. It's playoff football, so there'll be a lot of intensity, anyway, even if we weren't two teams very familiar with each other. But there's going to be a lot of chippiness in a hard-fought game. The two best teams in the NFC are the ones that are here."
The teams split their two regular-season meetings this season, with the Seahawks scoring a 29-3 victory in Week 2 in Seattle while the 49ers won their home game in San Francisco over the 'Hawks with a 19-17 triumph in Week 14.
The Seahawks (13-3 regular season) play in the NFC Championship for the first time since 2005 when they went all the way to the Super Bowl and lost while the 49ers (12-4) enter their third straight NFC title game and look to make it to the Super Bowl for the second straight year after being unsuccessful against the Baltimore Ravens in 2013.
Sherman tied a career-high with eight interceptions this season for 125 yards and a touchdown while adding 40 tackles.
