The Indiana Pacers fell in seven games to the eventual champions Miami Heat in last year's Eastern Conference finals losing badly, 99-76 in Game Seven which the Pacers have yet to forget that they are hell-bent on securing the top seed in the playoffs.
Indiana Pacers superstar Paul George echoed his team's desire to nail the top seed in the East reiterating that they don't see the Heat beating them at home should they meet each other in the Eastern Conference Finals again.
Asked by Showtime's Jim Rome if the Heat can beat them in the playoffs without homecourt advantage, George said he doesn't see that happening. As reported in SI.com, George said:" I mean, we know how well we play at home. We're one of the best teams in the postseason last year defending our home court. We just know how big home-court advantage is when it comes down to postseason. That's one of our main goals this year is to lock up the first seed so we can have the opportunity to play at home throughout the whole playoffs."
The Pacers currently have a three-game advantage over the Heat in the race for the top seed in the East, and their coach Frank Vogel is not coy about their target of gaining homecourt advantage throughout the postseason.
"We've got a goal that we're hanging onto right now that's kind of driving us each night, and that's to earn home-court advantage," Vogel told CBSSports.com. "We think it could be a difference-maker come playoff time against some of these teams."
