In the latest round of rumors regarding the WWE's WrestleMania XXX pay-per-view event that emanates from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on April 6, a match pitting Rey Mysterio against Alberto Del Rio is talked about as being in the works when the WWE launches its biggest event of all-time after Mysterio made comments about Del Rio being his dream opponent for WrestleMania.
According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Mysterio told WWE Magazine that his dream opponent for the big event or any other time would be Del Rio and discussed a possible stipulation.
"If I were to pick a dream match-up for some time in the future, it would be against him [Del Rio] and I would definitely put my mask on the line. I want it to be a classic lucha libre style match, mask vs. hair."
There is no word over whether or not the match will happen, but it's possible since Del Rio and Mysterio have not appeared in any rumors regarding the card over the last couple of months which means that the WWE may not have any long-term plans in the works for the two and could possibly pit then against one another at the event.
It is also possible that the WWE Magazine story was worked by the WWE to hint at the possible match and that the WWE is planning on having it but it remains to be seen.
This is just the latest match to be rumored for WrestleMania XXX. Other matches that have been rumored include CM Punk vs. Triple H--which seems like a lock now that the WWE has hinted at it on RAW, Shawn Michaels vs. Daniel Bryan--which would only happen if Michaels agreed to come out of retirement for one match which is doubtful, Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker--if the WWE doesn't land Sting and Randy Orton vs. Batista--with the possibility of Batista winning the Royal Rumble match Jan. 26 to earn a shot against Orton.
The plans involving John Cena at the event have been cloudy as some reports have indicated that the WWE was pushing a Cena and Bray Wyatt program while others have indicated that Cena may be involved with Hulk Hogan in some capacity.
The rumors involving Hogan include a one-on-one match with "Rowdy" Roddy Piper in a legends match, a tag match pitting Hogan and Cena vs. Piper and another heel and Hogan being in Cena's corner for a one-on-one match. There has also been the possibility discussed of Hogan and Piper taking on The Real Americans.
It remains to be seen if Mysterio will take on Del Rio, but the road to WrestleMania XXX begins next Sunday with the Royal Rumble.
