Chicago Bulls star guard Derrick Rose is back on the court and engaging in shooting drills as he attempts to make it back from his second season-ending knee injury in as many seasons.
According to BlackSportsOnline.com, the 2011 league MVP was recently spotted shooting with teammates at the Bulls practice facility, lending daylight to those who still hold out hope the youngest MVP in league history might be able to return to game action at some point this season should the Bulls make the playoffs.
In any event, the Bulls appear convinced Rose will soon make it all the way back and when he does he will be the same old Derrick Rose, with coach Tom Thibodeau recently telling reporters he's hopeful Rose will be able to compete for Team USA at the World Cup of Basketball this summer in Spain.
"I'm hopeful that he will participate," said Thibodeau, an assistant coach with the team. "But a lot depends on where his health is. But I thought it was a great experience for him in the past. I know how much he enjoyed it. I know how USA Basketball feels about him. I think it's a great honor and a privilege, and hopefully it will work out."
Rose, 25, tore the medial meniscus in his right knee on Nov. 22 and underwent surgery three days later. Though he's played in only 50 games over the past three seasons, he too is hopeful about Spain.
"For sure I would love to play on the team," Rose told ESPN last October. "It would be an honor. But at the same time, it would take me trying out for the team."
