Hard-luck Chicago Bulls star guard Derrick Rose could soon return to practice, just two months after suffering what's been widely reported as a season-ending knee injury.
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau recently suggested Rose could return to practice in the near future, though he gave no exact timetable.
"I don't want to jump to any conclusions, just going step-by-step,'' Thibodeau told the Sun-Times when asked if just two-months after suffering his second surgery-requiring knee injury in as many seasons Rose's return could be imminent. "When he handles the next phase then they'll move him onto the next one. Just make sure he's completely healthy, that's all we're thinking about.''
Thibodeau later added currently the 2011 league MVP "can shoot," and is "doing some jogging on a treadmill.''
Despite Rose's absence and the team's recently trading All-Star forward Luol Deng, the Bulls remain in the Eastern Conference playoffs chase, trailing only Indiana, Miami, Toronto and Atlanta as the conference's No. 5 seed.
In becoming the youngest MVP in league history at 23 in 2010-11, Rose averaged 25 points, 7.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds. The homegrown Chicago-native also led the Bulls to Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed and the league's best overall record.
