Hannah Davis And Derek Jeter Break Up, Celebrity To Blame? SI Swimsuit Model's Rising Profile Bothered Yankees Captain? [VIDEO]

Derek Jeter is known for being cool as a cucumber in the clutch, but The New York Post's Page Six is reporting he's not so cool with dating women who are equally famous.

While it is arguable that Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Hannah Davis can be considered on Jeter's level of renown, her profile is absolutely rising. Some are speculating that is the reason for their alleged split.

A source told Page Six, "Derek likes to keep his relationships quiet. In the past, when his girlfriends become famous and start doing sexy shoots, that's when they break up. Exactly the same thing happened with Minka and Vanessa Minnillo."

While the reports are just hitting the tabloids, another source told Page Six this break up happened months ago, more evidence of Jeter's mastery of handling the New York press. "Derek and Hannah broke up a few months ago. She wasn't at his Celebrity Golf Classic last month. He is in Tampa and is completely focused on being fit and ready for the upcoming baseball season."

The latter part could be a factor in the split. Jeter had a truly brutal 2013 campaign, where he was in and out of the lineup with injuries. He was limited to 17 games and 63 plate appearances; in that extremely short span he was dreadful, batting a meager .190 with one home run and seven RBI.

Davis shouldn't have too much trouble finding a new beau, as men all across the nation are probably still drooling over her "NJ Strong" photo that was released last week. The first source told Page Six, "The picture probably made millions of men very happy - but not Derek Jeter."

It may be for the best for Jeter to focus on the diamond if he wants to return to form. "Everything is good so far, knock on wood," Jeter said. He's out to prove his doubters wrong, and show that his 39-year-old body can still withstand the rigors of an MLB season.

"I remember when I was 35, everyone said that was it. He can't play anymore. End of my career. So, it's really nothing different. Eventually, somebody is going to be right, you know what I mean? You're going to run out of numbers."
