CM Punk Quits WWE: Internal Arguments in WWE About Letting Him Go? MMA Promotions Interested?

With CM Punk having walked out on the WWE before the Jan. 27 edition of Monday Night RAW, there have been different takes on it internally over whether Punk did or didn't do the right thing, and reports indicate there have also been some internal discussions within the WWE's executives over whether or not they should even try to bring Punk back.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, the WWE has not treated the CM Punk situation as a situation where they're letting him go, and the company will try to bring him back, however not everybody wants to.

WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon reportedly doesn't want Punk to leave due to this drawing power, meanwhile some executives with power backstage believe that the WWE should cut ties with Punk while McMahon refuses.

This report mirrors backstage consensus among the WWE's talent as some felt that Punk did the right thing and was standing up for himself while others believed he was being selfish and acting like a baby. Reports earlier this week indicated that some of the talent missed Punk's presence at last week's RAW because he would usually stand up and be a voice for the talent when things weren't going well.

There were reports surfacing last week that Punk has a mixed martial arts background and could be interested in doing some fighting, and Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that former Power Rangers star and MMA fighter Jason David Frank wants to fight Punk for the World Series of Fighting promotion.

According to the report, WSOF matchmaker and executive vice president Ali Abded-Aziz confirmed to MMAFighting.com that Frank's manager contacted them about a possible fight and he said that he'd be interested in promoting it, but it remains to be seen if Punk would have interest. The report indicates that The Bellator MMA promotion also has interest in landing Punk.

It's unknown if Punk will return to the WWE, but reports surfaced earlier this week that he wasn't answering phone calls and text messages from his former co-workers since departing the company for disputed reasons.

Some people backstage believe that Punk walked out due to being injured at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view while others feel that Punk was angered over the creative direction of the WWE as he always wanted to main event a WrestleMania, and with his contract set to expire in July and no sign of him being in the plans he left.

Punk was reportedly upset that "part-timers" like The Rock and Batista return after years off to headline WrestleManias while superstars like himself and Daniel Bryan are stuck to midcard duty at the biggest show of the year after traveling all year long around the world. Punk was set to face Triple H at WrestleMania XXX and was reportedly upset about his standing on the card.

It's unknown what Punk's future will hold, but there are varying opinions within the WWE over whether or not he should return.
