Charles Woodson in if just for money? Woodson to retire if offer to return from Raiders not substantial [VIDEO]

Charles Woodson sounds as if he's only in it for the money at this point.

The Oakland Raiders free safety seems to have made peace with the fact that he may already have played his last game. Multiple media outlets are reporting that Woodson, who will turn 38 during the 2014 NFL season, will retire if he doesn't get what he considers fair compensation from the franchise.

"I think at this point, if the right numbers don't come across, for myself and from the team's standpoint, then it is a serious consideration at this point that I could have played my last season in the NFL," Woodson said, according to a San Francisco Chronicle blog. "So that's definitely something that I think about. I do plan on playing another year. Hopefully something can get done with the Raiders but if not then I've got to take a real hard look at this last year being the last one."

Woodson has little left to prove in football. He has been to two Super Bowls and won one - Super Bowl XLV with the Green Bay Packers. He won the 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, has eight Pro Bowl appearances, three All-Pro awards and the 1997 Heisman Trophy while playing for the Michigan Wolverines.

The Chronicle reported that the Raiders are interested in re-signing Woodson, who had a career-high 97 tackles last season - he played cornerback for the first 14 years of his 16-year NFL career.

After reaching playing-time bonuses in 2013, Woodson made $3.4 million, the Chronicle reported. But he acknowledged his age will be a factor in the next offer he receives.

"When you get past a certain age, it's no longer about what you do on the field," Woodson said, according to NFL.com. "It's about your age. They look at the age first and then what you do on the field second. There's no rush for any team to sign a veteran player. It's not just a Raiders situation. It's a league-wide deal."

NFL.com added that Woodson likely would be only a part-time player and must be willing to accept the salary of a part-time player if he wants to return in 2014.
