Carmelo Anthony deemed his recent confab with New York Knicks president of basketball operations Phil Jackson, owner James Dolan and new coach Derek Fisher "a great meeting."

"It went well," the NBA's No. 2 overall scorer behind Oklahoma City Thunder league MVP Kevin Durant told the New York Daily News of last Friday's powwow. "I like what Phil is doing."

Carmelo Anthony to join Heat?

The 30-year-old veteran forward can officially become a free agent later this summer and the Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers are all rumored to be among his most ardent suitors.

Over the lifetime of a maximum contract, the Knicks can pay Anthony around $30 million more than any other team, but after 11 seasons of falling to advance to the NBA Finals, that added money alone may not be enough to keep him in Manhattan and a member of the Knicks.

Carmelo want wait on Knicks?

Earlier this season, Anthony told reporters he may be willing to take less money for the chance to play with a contending team and raved about how much he respects the way the Bulls compete and coach Tom Thibodeau keeps his team in line and ready to play. Despite having star guard Derrick Rose for just 10 games this season, the Bulls still won 48 games and qualified as the conference's No. 4 seed.

Sources also recently told The News after another year of finishing under .500 and missing the Eastern Conference playoffs, Anthony is completely opposed to another season of rebuilding.
