Dwight Howard Child Abuse: Mother Investigated For Using Belt To Punish Son [VIDEO]

It appears there's even more to this Dwight Howard family drama than originally met the eye.

A week after TMZ Sports first reported that the Rockets center had been investigated by Florida officials after reportedly striking his son Braylon with the brass end of a belt buckle, the website released a second report revealing that the son's mother, Royce Reed, was the target of an investigation of her own.

According to documents obtained from the Florida Department of Children and Families, Reed had struck Braylon with a belt for "using potty words" and "dropping the f-bomb" at school. Officials were informed of Braylon's neck and leg injuries in February by Braylon's school administrators.

Like Howard, Reed did not deny striking her son, but insisted her actions fell short of anything constituting abuse. The case was eventually closed, with no charges filed against her.

News of this family drama surfacing has coincided with Howard and Reed becoming locked in a contentious custody battle for Braylon. Howard's attorney originally dismissed reports that the NBA star had committed child abuse as "frivolous allegations."
