NESN.com is reporting that the Seattle Seahawks quarterback appeared in a video conversation at The Rock Church in San Diego with Pastor Miles McPherson, in which he explained how his interception at the end of Super Bowl XLIX was the result of divine intervention - aside from advance scouting by New England Patriots defensive back Malcom Butler.

Wilson revealed that God spoke to him moments after he threw his goal-line interception in the game's final minute that resulted in the Patriots preserving their 28-24 victory.
"The play happens, and they pick the ball off. And I take three steps," Wilson said, as reported by NESN. "And on the third step God says to me, 'I'm using you. ... I want to see how you respond. But most importantly, I want them to see how you respond.'"

Wilson, who is vocal about his Christian beliefs, also said in the interview that he and girlfriend Ciara made the joint decision to abstain from a sexual relationship until the two are married.
"She was on tour, and I was looking at her in the mirror, and God spoke to me," Wilson told the pastor. "He said, 'I need you to lead her.'"
How Wilson's reported demands of becoming the highest paid player in the NFL fits in with God's plan is unclear. Wilson's rationale of the Super Bowl interception also leads to questions about what happened.
Wilson received virtually no blame for the interception when or after it happened. The media instead hammered Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and his offensive coaching staff for not devising a play for running back Marshawn Lynch from the 1.
From an appearance standpoint, fans weren't watching Wilson to gauge his response; they were questioning Carroll for not giving the ball to Lynch.
And then, critics pointed out that if Carroll was intent on throwing the ball on that play, he should not have let Wilson throw into traffic in the middle of the field.
But the God theory indirectly absolves Carroll for shunning Lynch from the 1-yard-line when the Seahawks could've taken the lead - likely for good.
