Perhaps Steph Curry's tremendous success has something to do with his pregame ritual. Okay, maybe not, but the reigning MVP's shenanigans with his wife, Ayesha Curry, are certainly very interesting.
Curry, who is currently sidelined with a sprained knee, is the reigning NBA MVP and plays for the reigning NBA champion Warriors, who ousted the Rockets in Round 1 in just five games and await their second-round opponent.
The Warriors guard recently revealed a pregame ritual he shares with his wife, which involves matching tattoos. Curry's ink is on his left triceps and depicts two arrows pointing at each other.
"I have to show it," Curry told Parents.com. "This signifies that the past is behind us and the future is in front of us, so we stay in the middle, in the moment. [Before the game], I smack my tattoo and she does the same."
Ayesha also discussed the tattoo ritual.
"It's a reminder for him to have fun," she said. "I never want him to forget that."
These days, Curry can only have fun on the sidelines as he has been thrust into a cheerleading role while the Warriors hunt down their second consecutive NBA title. The knee sprain will keep the superstar off the court for at least two weeks.
Curry hurt his ankle during the first-round series against Houston and sat out Game 3, which was the only contest Golden State lost in Round 1. He then played in Game 4, where the Warriors took a commanding 3-1 series lead, but sprained his knee and missed the series-clincher in Game 5.
Now the Warriors must persevere without their star player, who has set the NBA on fire over the last two years.
"Well you have to. That's all you can do is try to hold down the fort till he comes back," small forward Andre Iguodala said via ESPN. "And if you do that, it makes us just as strong. Makes us stronger."
Curry and his wife may enjoy their pregame ritual, but it won't be a factor while the reigning MVP nurses his injury.
