Former unified world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. dropped a shocking revelation regarding one of the biggest fights of his professional boxing career.
The 34-year-old said that he did not train or do anything right to prepare for his rematch against British star Anthony Joshua in December 2019.
"How did I last 12 rounds? That was for him to knock me out easy. This time when I do get the crown and become heavyweight champion of the world again, I'm going to do everything right and stay champion," Ruiz said.
Joshua avenged his previous loss to the Mexican-American fighter in June of that year, notching a 119-109, 118-110, and 118-110 unanimous decision victory in Saudi Arabia.

The Imperial, California native took a massive drop in the WBC heavyweight rankings due to his lack of ring action for the past few years.
Ruiz dropped from No. 2 to No. 5 on the council's list, with Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, Arslanbek Makhmudov, and Frank Sanchez ahead of him.
Ruiz last fought Cuban boxer Luis Ortiz in September 2022, taking a unanimous decision win.
Before that, his last fight was against American fighter Chris Arreola in May 2021, where he also took a UD win.
The Arreola match was his first bout following the rematch loss to Joshua in December 2019.
