Jonathan Martin insist he has every intention of staging an NFL comeback. It just won't be with the Miami Dolphins.
According to Complex.com, team representative recently met with the agents of the man found to be endlessly hazed and bullied by former teammate Richie Incognito and expressed an interest in having him return to the organization.
The offer reportedly came from Dolphins' GM Dennis Hickey, and was shot down as quickly as it was extended with Martin's camp stressing it's probably best that everyone moved on for new and different starts.
Martin abruptly left the team at midseason, complaining that he had been mercilessly targeted and harassed by Incognito and perhaps other teammates with taunts about his toughness, appearance and sexuality.
Incognito was immediately suspended for the remainder of the season after the allegations became public and, like Martin, is now hoping for another NFL opportunity. In the wake of the scandal, NFL Commissioner Richard Goodell hired Ted Wells to investigate the culture of the Dolphins locker room and is not looking to institute new rules aimed at preventing another situation where it becomes so toxic.
One of the proposed changes has been to, more or less, outlaw the use of the N-word in NFL facilities, including instituting a 15-yard penalty for player who use it while on the field.
