TMZ is reporting the $250,000 in jewelry stolen from the home Lamar Odom once shared with estranged reality TV wife Khloe Kardashian this week may have been taken by drug dealers angry with the NBA veteran over unpaid debts.
According to the website, the dealers had previously threatened to break into the home to collect the money the 34-year-old Odom allegedly owed them for drugs he obtained over the summer during one of his many repeated drug binges.
TMZ adds sources claim Odom owed one dealer as much as $40,000 and another at least $15,000 for drugs he got from them as far back as in September. The website adds Odom would get more time from his tormentors by reminding them that he was rich, and thus good for the money. On other occasions, sources claim he would justify not paying because the quality of the drugs was "wack."
When the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year award winner left for Spain last month to play the remainder of the pro league season there, TMZ adds he still owed thousands of dollars to the dealers and had started to get menacing text messages from some of them threatening his safety..
The 29-year-old Kardashian discovered the heist earlier this week when she stopped by the house with momager Kris Jenner. Police said the property showed no signs of forced entry.
