Premier League transfer rumors: Luis Suarez summer transfer determined by UEFA Champions League qualification? [VIDEO]

Currently just four points from the top of the Premier League table, Liverpool find themselves in the best position to return to glory since 1990. The once-storied club has since fallen on hard times, but a return to prestigious European competition would provide the Reds with an additional boost in revenue—revenue that can be utilized to purchase the best players in the world.

That is what finishing in the top four of the Premier League means for the Merseyside-based club, but will it be necessary to keep its most prolific talent?

According to FourFourTwo magazine (h/t to Sky Sports), failing to qualify for the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League doesn’t necessarily mean Luis Suarez will depart. The Uruguayan was convincing enough to alleviate concern. “I signed my new contract because I'm very happy here and I want to stay where I'm enjoying football and life,” Suarez said. “Playing in the Champions League isn't dependent on that. I'd actually prefer not to win this Golden Boot and for Liverpool to qualify for the Champions League this season,” he added.

“Any player would miss the Champions League. We've not been good enough since I've been here to qualify, but this could definitely be our year.”

It’s been more than Suarez’s “year” in 2013-14. According to Squawka’s officially licensed data from Opta Sports, he isn’t just first in goals scored with 24. His seven goals from outside the area and 127 total shots lead the Premier League. His 57 key passes ranked fourth in England.

It’ll cost more than the patronizing £40,000,001 bid Arsenal made in the summer to lure the 27-year-old from Merseyside in 2014. Should that enticing offer come, will Suarez be a man of his word?
