Steve Smith promises 'there will be blood' when he plays former Carolina Panthers teammates [VIDEO]

Recently released wideout Steve Smith is vowing "there will be blood" if and when he ever faces the Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers formally released the 13-year veteran with seven seasons of at least 70 catches on Thursday, and are now thought to be in the market for a No. 1 receiver.

The move didn't sit well with the 35-year-old Smith and he has not been shy about sharing his view with others. "Put your goggles on cause there's going to be blood and guts everywhere," he told Fansided.com.

Despite being Cam Newton's favorite target, the Panthers seem convinced Smith's time has come and gone in Carolina. Smith's 64 receptions last season where down compared to the last two seasons, but his four touchdown catches were the same as he had in 2012 and he Newton seemed to share a bond that far transcended mere numbers.

Fansided.com predicts the fiery veteran shouldn't be out of a job for long, as the Baltimore Ravens are among the teams already expressing an interest. Smith's best season came in 2005 when he posted a league-leading 103 catches for an NFL best 1,563 yards and 12 touchdowns.
