Fantasy baseball 2014: Jurickson Profar tears shoulder muscle, out at least 10 weeks. Odor in Texas?

The already shallow second base position has received a major blow.

Rangers 2B Jurickson Profar suffered a tear in the teres major muscle of his right shoulder, an injury that will sideline the 21-year-old for at least 10 weeks. Profar will avoid surgery, but rest and rehabilitation will account for most of that off time.

Fantasy bonus: Closer breakdown for every MLB team

Profar appears to be sidelined until at least June, which is a major setback for both fantasy owners and the Rangers. Profar was expected to start at 2B after the Rangers traded Ian Kinsler to the Tigers for Prince Fielder over the winter.

What are the Rangers going to do to fill the void? The internal options are either not very good, or very young. Josh Wilson, Adam Rosales, Brent Lillibridge and Kensuke Tanaka should be avoided for fantasy purposes if the Rangers decide to plug one of these underwhelming options into the lineup.

Rougned Odor is the No. 1 prospect in the Rangers system according to Baseball America and he happens to play second base. Odor has only 134 at-bats above Class-A but the kid is a stud, hitting .303 with 11 homers and 31 stolen bases last season. In 17 spring at-bats, Odor batted .294/.368/.353.

Now, is the timing right for Odor to arrive in Texas? Probably not. But fantasy owners should act fast if the Rangers do decide to stink up Arlington with Odor.
