MLB award predictions 2014: MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of Year and Comeback Player picks

Baseball season is approaching quickly (it technically started with those silly games in Australia). It’s time for my yearly award predictions:

Fantasy bonus: Closer breakdown for every MLB team

National League

MVP: Freddie Freeman, Atlanta Braves
MVP runner-up: Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals
MVP sleeper:  Jedd Gyorko, San Diego Padres

Rookie of the Year: Billy Hamilton, Cincinnati Reds
ROY runner-up: Archie Bradley, Arizona Diamondbacks

Cy Young Award: Stephen Strasburg, Washington Nationals
Cy young runner-up: Jose Fernandez, Miami Marlins
Cy Young sleeper: Michael Wacha, St. Louis Cardinals

Manager of the Year: Matt Williams, Washington Nationals
Comeback Player: Brian Wilson, Los Angeles Dodgers

Bonus: Twitter accounts that fantasy baseball owners must follow

American League

MVP: Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels or Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers ... obviously.
Flood note: It’s too easy to pick Trout or Cabrera, so I am not including them as my “runner-up."
MVP runner-up: Adam Jones, Baltimore Orioles
MVP sleeper: Wil Myers, Tampa Bay Rays

Rookie of the Year: Jose Abreu, Chicago White Sox
ROY runner-up: Xander Bogaerts, Boston Red Sox

Cy Young Award: Justin Verlander, Detroit Tigers
Cy young runner-up:  Felix Hernandez, Seattle Mariners
Flood note: Yu Darvish was my runner-up before the neck injury.
Cy Young sleeper:  Sonny Gray, Oakland A's

Manager of the Year: Joe Maddon, Tampa Bay Rays
Comeback Player: Michael Pineda, New York Yankees
