American Venus Williams is having a fantastic season thus far and will look to advance against Czech Zahlavova Strycova in the first round of the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, South Carolina. Williams looks to build off a a season where she already has a finals appearance in Auckland, but lost to Ana Ivanovic.
Zahlavova Strycova is no. 64 in the world tennis rankings and holds a 11-9 record going into the match against Williams. This will be the second time the two have faced off against each other, the first being in the Mexican Open semi-finals in 2009. Williams won the match 6-0, 6-3 on rout to the finals.
